Beasts Made of Night Blog Tour + Giveaway

I am thrilled to be on the book tour today to give you a preview of Beasts Made of Night, a YA Nigerian fantasy that releases on Halloween.  The October 31st release date is perfect for a book that features such haunting descriptions of brutal battles with sin-beasts that leave the Aki marked by sin, both physically and emotionally, a dark, injust world run by the wealthy, poverty and income disparity.  This is a dark, dark tale with a unique world.  Many recommend it for fans of Paolo Bacigalupi and Nnedi Okorafor, but I would also tell fans of slow-burn fantasy, like The Bone Witch and Strange the Dreamer, to pick this one up.  Today’s preview will feature bookish aesthetics plus, a giveaway.

THE REREAD CAMPAIGN

The Speaker publication date less than three weeks away and I am SO excited for the second installment of The Sea of Ink and Gold trilogy!  I read this book last year for one of our First Reads Friday installments and absolutely enjoyed this fantasy novel about literacy.  Sefia’s quest to find her aunt Nin, who is kidnapped, is filled with adventure, mysterious strangers and narrators and A BOOK. The story is a finely woven tapestry, where many different POV’s converge in unexpected ways.

Not only is The Reader a feast of words, but Traci has also included an Easter Egg hunt in the book–you search for clues within the pages of the story (from blacked-out words and paragraphs, to footnotes and thumbprints on certain pages). It’s very fun to search out clues and attempt to piece them together–an adventure within an adventure.  I’m pretty sure I didn’t find all the clues within The Reader, which is why this Reread is in order!

The Reader stuck with me long after I finished it.  After sharing with you Traci’s playlist for The Reader earlier this year, today, I am here to give you some moodboard aesthetics related to The Reader.  In a few weeks, we’ll be on The Speaker tour so hurry up and get caught up on the Reader before then!

A Line In The Dark Blog Tour & Giveaway

HAPPY MONDAY, ALL!  SO excited to be kicking off the A Line In The Dark Blog Tour today.  To add to the excitement, A LINE IN THE DARK PUBLISHES TOMORROW, so the character aesthetics will give you a SNEAK PEEK at the novel ahead of publication.
This was my first novel by Malinda Lo and I was impressed by the special combination of titillating creepiness, friendship, unrequited love with a twist mystery.  A book focused on friendship and loyalty, it slowly unwinds into something subtly darker, deeper as it progresses.  This book also includes excellent representation for f/f romance and diverse characters
