We took one look at this Epic Reads infographic and thought to ourselves: we need to get our reading organized in 2016. We operate in the conundrum that TBR absolutely ridiculous, our bookshelves full and we never know what to read next. As we stated earlier, 2015 became the Year of Unfinished Trilogies, where we refused to skip books that were mid-series and really began embracing them. We fell in love with so many new characters and included many mid-series books on our Best of 2015 list. So, what follows are in-progress book series that we’re excited to see continue and/or conclude in 2016.
2016 Highly-Anticipated Continuation/Conclusion of Book Series
Stars Above by Marissa Meyer, anticipated release February 2, 2016. A post-Winter compilation of novellas related to the Lunar Chronicles that provide continuation for some of the characters after the conclusion of Winter.
A Gathering of Shadows by VE Schwab, expected publication February 23, 2016. We were blown away by A Darker Shade of Magic and have been counting the days to when we hear from Kell, Deliah Rhys and the four Londons.
Mary E Pearson’s Remnant Chronicles continues, TWICE, in 2016. First, Mary E Pearson is releasing her e-book novella Morrighan on January 12th. You can read a snippet of the novella on the Remnant Chronicles site. Then, the highly anticipated novel of the Remnant Chronicles series, Beauty of Darkness, expected publication date August 2, 106.
Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard, expected release date February 9, 2016. This is , Book #2 of the Red Queen series, which promises to pick right up on Mare Barrow’s war against the silvers. You can read the first chapter on MTV News. With Queen Song already released in 2015, this trilogy is being driven by novellas released between the main books of the series. Novellas Steel Scars (focused on Farley) and Cruel Crown (which follows Norta) out on out January 6, 2016.
Kingdom of Ashes by Rhiannon Thomas, expected publication February 23, 2016. This is book #2 of the A Wicked Thing series, which is a re-telling of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. Princess Aurora awakens 100 years after she falls asleep and must learn to navigate a new world, where her family and friends aren’t around her and she’s surrounded by strangers, most especially her “prince.” We were left wanting more at the end of the first book and can’t wait wait to see where Kingdom of Ashes takes us.
The Rose & The Dagger by Renee Ahdieh, publication date May 3, 2016. We already feel madly, deeply, irreversibly in love with Shazi & Khalid in The Wrath and The Dawn. We then swooned over the gorgeous cover for The Rose and The Dagger. We are now very eagerly anticipating the conclusion of this duology.
The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater, publication date April 26, 2016. Bleu Sargent and her Aglionby boys have us wrapped around their little fingers and we are dying to know: DOES SOMETHING HAPPEN TO GANSEY?? Read all about what we know so far here.
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas, expected publication May 3, 2016. We were already ecstatic over the name, now we just need a cover reveal for the 2nd in The Court of Thorn and Roses trilogy where we expect Feyre to face the consequences of her actions at the Night Court.
Map of Fates by Maggie Hall, expected publication March 8, 2016. The second book in the Conspiracy of Us trilogy, we’re expecting another whirlwind journey where Avery West attempts to discover the truth about herself AND The Circle.
A Torch Against The Night by Sabaa Tahir
A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir, expected publication August 30, 2016. In her thrilling Ember in the Ashes Sabaa Tahir thrilled us all and landed on many, many best of lists, including ours. We’re expecting the trials and tribulations of Laia and Elias to continue in another heart stopper.
The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski, expected publication date March 29, 2016. This cover has been debated and re-re-revealed, but that’s just the beginning. We are expecting WAR for Kestrel and Arin when this series comes to an end in March.
The Crown by Kiera Cass, expected publication date May 3, 2016. Eadlyn’s selection process has been less than stellar and we’re just dying to know what becomes of it all–will she choose one of the Selected, or will she choose her personal freedom?
Recreated by Colleen Houck, expected publication August 2, 2016. After absolutely loving Reawakened and declaring 2015 The Year of the Mummy, we are eagerly anticipating the second release in the Reawakened series–will the second book be cursed or a gift from the Gods?
Frost Like Night by Sara Raasch, expected publication in Fall of 2016. Ice like Fire left us breathless with anticipation of the conclusion of this trilogy.
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo, expected publication September 22, 2016. We’re ecstatic for the name, but know little else about this book. However, if it’s half the ride of Six of Crows, we know we’ll love it.
Traitor’s Pyre by Josephine Angelini, expected publication date September 20, 2016. There is no information out there on the final installment of the Worldwalker trilogy, but considering the heartbreak of the second installment, Fire Walker, we are on our toes awaiting any tidbit we can on Lily, her brood, Lillian and Rowan.
