Via Twitter this morning, Ms. Maggie Stiefvater revealed the book cover for her much anticipated “The Raven King.”  This is the fourth and final installment of the epic The Raven Cycle series. We also noticed that the publication date was moved from the second date of February 2016 to the definitive date of April 26, 2016.

So, what does this cover tell us?

Of course, The ravens are everywhere, as we would expect them to be.  But the most eyecatching and interesting part of the cover the dominant stag that seems to reflect and embody its surroundings.  From Blue Lily, Lily Blue, when they found the valley of skeletons Gansey wakes up the beasts:  “The stags and the horses, the lions and the hawks, the goats and the unicorns, and the creatures Adam could not name.”  So the stag is representative of the Cabeswater and the woken up Ley Line and it’s ultimate role in the lives of Blue, Adam, Gansey, Ronan and Noah.

Previously, Maggie had graced us with the first line of the novel:

“Richard Gansey III had forgotten how many times he had been told he was destined for greatness.”

All in all, we’re at a loss for how this series will end, but are enthralled that the release date issue has been firmed up, even though it’s been delayed another 2 months.  Make sure to pre-order your copy here and follow-up along during our Spring re-read of the series in anticipation of the release of the final novel.
